SharePoint Event ID’s 7076, 6398, and 6482 Hotfix

18 12 2008

As I understand this fix has been out for a long while but I thought I would post it, even if just for my own reference. If you have been experiencing frequent errors in the eventlog looking similar to the below:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows SharePoint Services 3
Event Category: (964)
Event ID: 6398
Date: 11/7/2007
Time: 5:45:38

Computer: 44MOSSAGRUK
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.ApplicationServerAdministrationServiceJob
(ID 02b5e3f2-21e3-4552-bf1d-6e152749458a) threw an exception. More information is included below.
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Then you probably need the hotfix, head to http://support.microsoft.com/?id=946517 and click ‘View and Request Hotfix Downloads’ to download this hotfix.

How do you develop on SharePoint?

17 12 2008

Dear all,

I thought it would be a good idea to add the below poll, it will be interesting to see which method that most people/companies use when developing with SharePoint/WSS Technologies. I would imagine that the Out Of the Box option won’t get many votes!

Disposing of SharePoint Variables

17 12 2008

Hi all,

I was recently struggling to figure out why I had the following error appear in my SharePoint error logs:

ERROR: request not found in the TrackedRequests. We might be creating and closing webs on different threads. ThreadId = 22, Free call stack =    at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPRequestManager.Release(SPRequest request)“

Well it turns out, in the particular piece of code in the workflow it was running at the time. I was disposing of the workflowproperties.site variable.

Having done a bit of research and testing, I have found that you do not need to dispose of workflowproperties.site, thought it would be useful to post it here in case anyone was having a similar problem.
